The result has intensified scrutiny surrounding Shan Masood and his captaincy. Since Masood was appointed in 2023, he has led Pakistan in 16 Tests. During that span, Pakistan have lost 12 times, a record that has placed him among the most unwanted figures in terms of defeats for a Pakistan Test captain.<\/p>\n
A Geo News report suggested that Masood is likely to step down as Pakistan\u2019s Test captain following the whitewash. That expectation gained further support after his post-match interaction, where he indicated that the next steps would be handled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).<\/p>\n
Masood said he did not want to single out anyone with blame or praise, stressing that the team\u2019s Test struggles need discussion. He also made it clear that the matter of captaincy ultimately belongs to the board.<\/p>\n
Masood also explained that his intention in taking up the Test captaincy\u2014after December 2023\u2014was to raise Pakistan\u2019s standards in the longest format. He noted that certain issues require debate with the board, and that the final call will always be taken by the PCB.<\/p>\n
He further underlined his mindset by saying he wants to keep looking for ways to improve the team, while also accepting challenges and embracing opportunities.<\/p>\n
Even with the defeat, Masood addressed supporters directly. He apologised to the fans after the loss, saying he does not focus on individual contributions unless the team wins. He urged that Pakistan must not view matters emotionally and instead find a path to improve in Test cricket.<\/p>\n
Masood also used the post-match moment to recognise the work behind the venues. The 36-year-old, who has been Test captain since December 2023, said he would like to thank the people responsible for preparing the pitches for both Tests in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
