New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been fully cleared by the Alipore Court in a cheque bounce dispute brought by his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan. The complaint stemmed from a cheque worth Rs 1 lakh, which Jahan alleged had bounced after it was deposited at a bank. The case had been pending for close to four years, and on Wednesday the Chief Judicial Magistrate\u2019s court in Alipore acquitted Shami of all charges.<\/p>\n

Following the verdict, Shami\u2019s counsel, Salim Rahman, confirmed the outcome and said the cricketer was acquitted in the four-year-old matter that had been filed by his wife. Shami also addressed reporters after the ruling, expressing confidence that the court\u2019s decision would ultimately favour him. He said he had paid every rupee that was required and added that, on and off the field, he tries to manage every situation in the best possible way.<\/p>\n

  3. The cheque case is described as one element of a broader, long-running legal battle between Shami and Jahan.<\/li>\n
  4. In 2018, Jahan had lodged multiple complaints involving Shami and members of his family, including allegations connected to financial support and maintenance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    At present, as per directions from the Calcutta High Court, Shami is required to pay Rs 1.5 lakh every month to Hasin Jahan. He also pays Rs 2.5 lakh monthly for the upbringing of their daughter, bringing the total monthly support to Rs 4 lakh under the court\u2019s orders.<\/p>\n

    Jahan later moved the Supreme Court, arguing that the amount was not sufficient to cover household expenses. During proceedings, the apex court questioned whether Rs 4 lakh per month could be considered inadequate for the care of both a mother and a child.<\/p>\n
