Vaibhav Sooryavanshi might still be only 15, but the way he\u2019s been carrying himself at the crease has already stood out as unusually composed for his age. While the left-handed batter has always had the ability to strike big shots, earlier versions of his batting often saw him depart too soon after looking to accelerate at the start of an innings. Over the last couple of years, his approach has sharpened dramatically\u2014he now shows a clearer understanding of when to respect the new ball and when to unleash his power once he\u2019s properly set.<\/p>\n

That improved temperament was on display again in a recent chat involving Rajasthan Royals, where Sooryavanshi shared an example of how he helped settle a tense moment involving their head coach, Kumar Sangakkara. The teenager described how he managed to calm Sangakkara down during a crucial phase of an IPL 2026 match, underlining that his maturity extends well beyond just shot selection.<\/p>\n

  1. The incident occurred during the mid-innings break of Rajasthan Royals\u2019 IPL 2026 fixture against Lucknow Super Giants at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 19.<\/li>\n
  2. Rajasthan\u2019s stand-in captain, Yashasvi Jaiswal, won the toss and chose to bowl first.<\/li>\n
  3. Lucknow produced a strong batting effort, finishing their innings on 220 for 5.<\/li>\n
  4. Sooryavanshi said Sangakkara appeared under significant stress because the Royals were about to begin the chase of a demanding total.<\/li>\n
  5. The batter added that he spoke to the head coach, helped him settle, and assured him he would do the job.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Context also mattered. Rajasthan were still pushing hard for a place in the final IPL 2026 playoff race, and they had come into the match after a sequence of three straight defeats. Sooryavanshi\u2019s comments reflected that he had noticed the pressure building on Sangakkara earlier, and he carried that awareness into the dressing break as the chase loomed.<\/p>\n
