If Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai, Punjab\u2019s chances will be mathematically over. Conversely, a Kolkata win over Delhi Capitals could open the door for net run rate to become a deciding factor. At the moment, PBKS hold a slim advantage in NRR over KKR, but before those permutations can matter, Punjab first have to fix the problems that have surfaced across the squad during their slump.<\/p>\n
Punjab\u2019s intent at the top\u2014driven by Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Connolly\u2014has not delivered the explosive beginnings that came earlier in the campaign. Priyansh has managed only one half-century in his last seven innings and was dismissed for a duck in the previous game. Prabhsimran, similarly, has struggled to find steady rhythm, scoring just one fifty in his last five outings.<\/p>\n
Connolly has flashed ability but has been unable to convert starts into sizeable knocks. Even Iyer, who had been among the leading run-getters earlier in the season, has seen his production drop sharply during the losing streak\u2014passing fifty just once across the six defeats. The middle order that powered the thrilling chase against Delhi has also lost momentum, while Punjab\u2019s bowling has leaked runs at both ends of the innings.<\/p>\n
Fielding has added further pressure, with dropped chances turning into costly moments when matches were slipping away. Meanwhile, Lucknow\u2019s campaign has been equally difficult, and they are already out of playoff contention after winning only twice in their last ten outings.<\/p>\n
In their most recent match, LSG suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur, in a contest shaped by teenage standout Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Even so, the Super Giants will draw confidence from how they have performed at the Ekana Stadium, where they have won both of their previous two home matches\u2014one against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and another versus Chennai Super Kings.<\/p>\n
The most encouraging sign for LSG has been the form of the Australian pair Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis at the top. In the last outing, they put on 109 runs in just 8.2 overs, and their ability to get momentum early will be central again if Lucknow is to finish the season on a brighter note in front of their home crowd.<\/p>\n
Nicholas Pooran will also be looking to regain his rhythm after scoring 87 runs across his last four innings. Captain Rishabh Pant, who has endured a disappointing campaign with just one fifty so far, will likewise aim to end on a positive note.<\/p>\n
On the bowling front, it remains to be seen whether veteran pacer Mohammed Shami returns after missing the previous game.<\/p>\n
