"There\u2019s a reason I spent as much money as I did a couple of years ago on him. He\u2019s a cracking guy, very mature player now, and a very mature leader too. "The standard of cricket we played in the first half was a level I\u2019ve never seen before. Then we started making crucial errors at different times over the last six games," he said.<\/p>\n
Ponting also highlighted Prabhsimran Singh\u2019s steady progress throughout the tournament, crediting the opener\u2019s growing belief and calm approach in successful run chases. He praised the young batter for turning his promise into consistent match impact.<\/p>\n
"Terrific player. It\u2019s probably only been the last couple of years that he has realised how good he is. Him and Priyansh have been outstanding for us for the last couple of seasons. Seeing him play a mature innings tonight in a good run chase will do him a world of good," Ponting said.<\/p>\n
