With the Punjab Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match done on Saturday, the Orange and Purple Cap tables have settled\u2014at least for the moment. Still, the IPL 2026 race is far from fixed, because two league-stage games are scheduled for Sunday, and those contests could shuffle the standings significantly across both batting and bowling charts.<\/p>\n
LSG opener Mitchell Marsh was not part of the Saturday clash, which removed much of the immediate pressure on the leading batters in the season tally. Marsh finished the campaign so far with 563 runs, leaving him placed seventh, though his final rank could still change as the league stage races toward its conclusion.<\/p>\n
For Punjab Kings, however, two batters made notable progress after stretches that had been relatively quiet.<\/p>\n
In the innings opener\u2019s role, Prabhsimran Singh struck 69 off 39 balls. It was his second fifty of the season in five matches, with the other innings containing three lower scores in between. The knock lifted his run total to 510, placing him in tenth position.<\/p>\n
One spot above him sits captain Shreyas Iyer, who ended Saturday with 498 runs after producing 101 not out from 51 deliveries. Even with that century, his recent form leading into the game had been difficult: he had only managed to cross 30 in one of his previous five innings before the match.<\/p>\n
The top group at the moment remains unchanged. Gujarat Titans batters B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill lead the chart with 638 and 616 runs respectively. Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad follows on 606, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals next at 579. The SRH pair of Ishan Kishan (569) and Abhishek Sharma (563) sit close behind before Marsh\u2019s 563 completes the sequence for the moment.<\/p>\n
Among those names, Sooryavanshi has a strong opportunity to climb higher this evening, with Rajasthan Royals facing Mumbai Indians (MI). A productive outing could help him gain ground at the top.<\/p>\n
On the bowling side, Prince Yadav delivered another tidy outcome after finishing wicketless\u20140 for 32 from three overs\u2014marking the fourth straight match in which he had no wickets to his name. Across the season, he has now taken 16 wickets.<\/p>\n
The leading wicket-takers currently sit in a tight cluster. Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bengaluru has 24 wickets. Kagiso Rabada of Gujarat Titans also has 24 wickets, though his economy rate is less favourable than Bhuvneshwar\u2019s. Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings has 21 wickets, while Rashid Khan of Gujarat Titans has 19. Eshan Malinga of Sunrisers Hyderabad is also on 19, but Rashid\u2019s economy is better.<\/p>\n
Just outside the top group is Jofra Archer, who\u2014much like Sooryavanshi\u2014has another chance to move up when he lines up tonight against MI. Archer has 18 wickets, and he can add to that tally to improve his position.
