As per the BCCI guidelines circulated to franchises on May 18, the tournament\u2019s security framework specifically prohibits smart sunglasses or goggles that enable advanced communication or recording capabilities. The warning covers equipment supplied by certain companies selling these \u201csmart\u201d eyewear products to players as well as support staff.<\/p>\n
The BCCI protocols explain that the \u201csmart\u201d eyewear in question can come with communication features such as live streaming, the ability to send and receive text messages, and audio or video calling through mobile data or Wi-Fi. Under the PMOA standards, such glasses or goggles are categorised as both an \u201cAudio\/Video recording device\u201d and a \u201cCommunication Device.\u201d<\/p>\n
On match days, the BCCI\u2019s circulated instructions require players and support staff to hand over these devices at entry to the PMOA. The devices must be deposited with the Security Liaison Officer, along with mobile phones and smartwatches.
