\u201cA lot of the points that people would be making around Jof and that situation I think are to do with the landscape back when they were playing,\u201d Stokes said. \u201cIt\u2019s completely different now. There\u2019s opportunities for cricketers now that there wasn\u2019t 10, 15, 20 years ago. Yes, in an ideal situation, it would be unbelievably great to have everyone who you want available every single opportunity. But it\u2019s not the way of cricket at the moment. There\u2019s so much more out there for players.\u201d<\/p>\n
The England skipper stressed that teams must adjust to the modern cricket calendar rather than expect players to be available for every international match at all times. He also warned that mishandling situations like Archer\u2019s could ultimately discourage talented players from participating in international cricket.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a situation where it could get messy, and players like Jofra might not play for England again if you handle it a different way,\u201d Stokes said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s not good for anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stokes added that Archer has repeatedly shown his commitment to representing England. \u201cJof, I think, has shown that he is committed and loves playing for England. Just because he\u2019s not available for this first test match does not change that.\u201d<\/p>\n
