The discussions are expected to bring a noticeable shift in the leadership group, along with fresh faces emerging from the domestic and IPL pipeline.<\/p>\n<h2>Leadership shake-up expected for the Ireland and England tours<\/h2>\n<p>The headline change is likely to come at the top of India\u2019s T20 setup. Shreyas Iyer is expected to be named India\u2019s new T20 captain, with Suryakumar Yadav seemingly facing the consequences of a prolonged dip in form. The selectors\u2019 thinking suggests that the slump may cost Suryakumar both the captaincy and a spot in the T20I squad for the next phase.<\/p>\n<p>Tilak Varma is also expected to be appointed vice-captain. The selection group is understood to be planning beyond the immediate tours as well, beginning to map out India\u2019s longer-term pathway toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, followed by the T20 World Cup scheduled in Australia and New Zealand.<\/p>\n<h2>Vaibhav Sooryavanshi\u2019s potential maiden T20I call-up<\/h2>\n<p>One of the most closely watched possibilities is the first T20I entry for 15-year-old batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The expectation is that he could at least be considered for the two-match T20I series in Ireland, with the selectors impressed by his impact in the IPL-2026 season.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sooryavanshi topped the IPL-2026 run charts with 776 runs.<\/li>\n<li>He struck at a strike rate of 237.30.<\/li>\n<li>He also smashed a record 72 sixes in the tournament.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Other squad selections: Asian Games and India A tour<\/h2>\n<p>Beyond the T20I tours, the selection committee will also name squads for the Asian Games in Japan and for India A\u2019s multi-day trip to Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p>Tilak Varma could be handed the responsibility of leading the Asian Games team, while Sooryavanshi remains in contention for inclusion. With his rise described as rapid, his momentum could align well with India\u2019s broader cycle leading into the next Olympics and major T20 events.<\/p>\n<h2>Suryakumar\u2019s slump and emerging contenders for T20I spots<\/h2>\n<p>While Sooryavanshi\u2019s progress has been steep, Suryakumar\u2019s trajectory has gone in the opposite direction. Despite previously steering India to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year, his recent performances have not met expectations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Suryakumar managed 270 runs in IPL 2026 at an average of 20.76.<\/li>\n<li>He has continued to struggle in the T20 Mumbai League.<\/li>\n<li>Selectors are believed to have grown impatient after poor returns over the last 18 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to potential leadership changes, the committee may also reward a handful of emerging performers. Two players\u2014Delhi pacer Prince Yadav and left-arm spinning allrounder Harsh Dubey\u2014have been identified as strong candidates for maiden T20I call-ups.
