LSG needed 157 and were pushed to the second-last delivery, while Pant\u2019s strike rate was 136\u2014effective enough to survive, yet far from the kind of domination he used to bring.<\/p>\n<h3>Numbers that raise doubts<\/h3>\n<p>Across the opening stretch of IPL 2026, Pant\u2019s output has been modest: 85 runs from 68 balls in his first three appearances. The strike rate of 125 highlights a batter who is not consistently forcing the game\u2019s tempo. He has yet to clear the ropes in any match this season, and that lack of a breakthrough is adding weight to the concerns growing around his rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>Those worries do not exist in isolation; they have already affected his standing with India. That decline ultimately culminated in his omission from the 2026 T20 World Cup squad. With IPL 2026 starting on such a shaky note, the downward curve appears to have continued rather than reversed.<\/p>\n<h3>No easy opening in India\u2019s T20I order<\/h3>\n<p>One reason Pant\u2019s path back to the national side looks blocked is the sheer density of options. Samson and Kishan have surged ahead after strong World Cup showings, and the middle order is not providing any obvious opening either.
