Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant conceded that his team did not score enough runs after going down to Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Pant said LSG failed to make the most of the chances that came their way, and he pointed out that the target they ended up with was not competitive on a track that required sustained application. \u201cDefinitely not enough runs. There\u2019s nothing from the fact that they bowled well,\u201d Pant said after the defeat, while also crediting Gujarat\u2019s disciplined bowling for keeping the Lucknow batters under pressure.<\/p>\n
Turning to the pitch conditions, Pant argued that a stronger total would likely have changed the complexion of the match. He explained that on a wicket like that, 170 to 180 should be considered a solid number. \u201cI think in a wicket like this, a score like 170 to 180 is a really good score. But you know, the wicket kept on falling and they put enough pressure on us to get those wickets going,\u201d he added, noting that the ongoing loss of wickets prevented his side from building momentum.<\/p>\n
Even with the batting shortfall, Pant felt there were still moments where the game could have swung in LSG\u2019s direction. \u201cOn a wicket like this, like I said, 170 to 180 is a good score. But at the same time, you still have opportunities. I wouldn\u2019t say I\u2019m a hard guy. So there were opportunities in the game. We just couldn\u2019t grab it enough,\u201d he said, stressing that key chances were not converted across different phases.<\/p>\n
Despite the setback, the LSG captain backed the batting group and urged a calm approach as the season gets going. \u201cSee, definitely it\u2019s a great lineup. But the tournament has just started here, you know. We\u2019re not putting pressure on players because especially the senior guys, they know what to do,\u201d Pant remarked.<\/p>\n
Pant also addressed the reality that form can shift quickly in T20 cricket, but he maintained confidence that the team would respond. \u201cYeah, there are times when you perform and you just couldn\u2019t. But at the same time, you know, the trust and belief in the camp is enough. And we know he\u2019s going to come soon enough. It\u2019s always positive,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
