Former India batter Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar visited veteran music icon Asha Bhosle at her Mumbai home on Monday to pay their respects. The singer, who died on Sunday morning at the age of 92 following multi-organ failure, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital.<\/p>\n
On Monday afternoon, Sachin reached Casa Grande in Lower Parel with Anjali to attend the funeral. The singer\u2019s mortal remains were wrapped in the Indian tricolour, decorated with white lilies, and kept in a glass casket. As part of state ceremonial honours, the police also conducted a formal salute.<\/p>\n
Sachin and Anjali appeared visibly moved as they offered their final tribute. Notably, Bhosle had also made one of her last public appearances at the wedding of Tendulkar\u2019s son, Arjun, last month.<\/p>\n
Earlier on Sunday, Sachin shared his grief over Bhosle\u2019s death, describing her as someone close to him. He wrote on X: \u201cA deeply sad day for India, and for music lovers across the world. For us, Asha Tai was family. Today, words feel too small for the loss we feel. One moment the heart falls silent, and the next, it drifts through the countless melodies she gifted all of us. It feels as though time itself has paused. Yet through her eternal songs, she will remain timeless forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bhosle also had a long-standing connection with cricket and had once referred to Sachin in memorable terms. She was known to be an admirer of the sport, and in Sachin\u2019s autobiography, Playing It My Way<\/em>, she described how her interest in cricket began after she first watched it in 1956.<\/p>\n She traced her cricket education to watching Indian legends such as Vijay Manjrekar and Polly Umrigar, before later becoming captivated by the aggression of Viv Richards and the artistry of Sunil Gavaskar.
