Chennai Super Kings batter Dewald Brevis marked his return to action with a confident display as CSK edged Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs in IPL 2026. After recovering from a side strain, Brevis said it felt \u201cspecial\u201d to be back in competitive cricket, enjoying both the crowd atmosphere and the time spent in the middle while adjusting to the playing surface.<\/p>\n

Brevis\u2019 return and CSK\u2019s dominant win<\/h2>\n

  1. Brevis, speaking after the match on JioHotstar, described the outing as enjoyable and said he particularly liked getting a feel for the wicket during his time in the middle.<\/li>\n
  2. The right-handed batter said the wicket was a little different from the previous night, but added that he still had \u201clots of fun,\u201d including making the most of his time around the field and finding a good rhythm with his bat.<\/li>\n
  3. He noted that being sidelined by a side strain had not been ideal, and claimed the return helped rebuild his confidence while helping him feel \u201cstrong.\u201d<\/li>\n
  4. Brevis also praised young CSK teammate Ayush Mhatre, calling him \u201cspecial\u201d and expressing a wish that the youngster continues to play his natural brand of cricket without pressure.<\/li>\n
  5. He explained that Mhatre\u2019s approach is ball-by-ball\u2014reacting and hitting according to where the deliveries need to go\u2014and said it is encouraging to see him do that through the highs and lows of a career.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Batting first after being asked, CSK posted 192\/5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson top-scored for the home side with 48 off 32 balls, striking four fours and three sixes, while Brevis contributed a brisk 41 off 29 balls, including four boundaries and two maximums. The KKR bowling unit received a major impact from Kartik Tyagi, who finished with figures of 2\/35.<\/p>\n

    In reply, KKR\u2019s chase began to unravel as they slipped to 29\/2. They were still in the hunt thanks to a 50-run stand between captain Ajinkya Rahane (28 off 22 balls, with two sixes) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (27 off 19 balls, featuring three fours and a six). However, Noor Ahmed produced a decisive spell that turned the game, dragging KKR to 90\/6 and ultimately restricting them to 160\/7.<\/p>\n

    The defeat left KKR without a win, extending their winless run to four matches. They have lost those four games, with one no result, and currently sit at the bottom of the points table.
