After his side\u2019s loss, Afridi was pressed about a tense finish in which alleged tampering during the last over became the defining talking point\u2014an incident that involved his teammate and star opener Fakhar Zaman.<\/p>\n
During the post-match presentation, former Pakistan cricketer Rameez Raja opened with a direct question about the final over\u2019s drama, noting that the ball was changed after suspicions of ball tampering. Afridi\u2019s response was measured. He said he did not have complete information in the moment and would need to review what had happened by checking the footage. Afridi added that the team would speak internally to understand exactly who did what, insisting that the episode hurt Lahore badly. The controversy itself erupted in a PSL contest between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, with Fakhar finding himself at the centre of the claims. It came at a critical stage when Haris Rauf was due to bowl the last over and Karachi required 14 runs to win. Rauf was preparing to deliver when Afridi and Fakhar joined him briefly to discuss the plan for the final six balls.<\/p>\n
What drew immediate attention was what appeared to be Fakhar altering the ball on camera. That prompted a reaction from the officials on the field: umpire Faisal Afridi called for the ball, inspected it, and then held an extended conversation with fellow umpire Sharfuddoula of Bangladesh. After their deliberations, the umpires determined that the ball had been deliberately tampered with and handed Karachi five penalty runs. As a result, Karachi\u2019s chase was adjusted to nine runs from the final six deliveries, and the ball was changed as well.<\/p>\n
