The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has unveiled plans to introduce a player contract framework designed to bring structure and financial assurance to cricketers operating within its set-up. The move, outlined in an MCA release, extends to both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams, with eligible players to be considered for contracts through a process that factors in on-field output, fitness requirements and input from the selection panel.<\/p>\n
As per the proposed model, the contract system is meant to help players who are close to making the jump to higher levels, while also delivering stability at the domestic stage. Under the grading structure, contracted players will be placed into three categories. Grade A contracts are set to fall between INR 12 lakh and INR 20 lakh annually, Grade B will be offered in the INR 8 lakh to INR 12 lakh bracket, and Grade C players will receive INR 8 lakh per year.<\/p>\n
Beyond the base retainers, the MCA release states that players with contracts will also be eligible for match-related fees, daily allowances and rewards tied to performance, as per the association\u2019s existing policies. The document further highlights that the initiative is aimed at financial security, building a more professional environment, promoting consistent standards and fitness, and offering a clearer pathway for advancement in the sport.<\/p>\n
