Punjab Kings climbed to the summit of the IPL 2026 points table with a convincing seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, marking a fourth consecutive defeat for the home side. While Quinton de Kock delivered a brilliant century that helped MI post 195\/6, PBKS chased it down in style, driven by Prabhsimran Singh\u2019s blistering form and a steady, captain\u2019s contribution from Shreyas Iyer.<\/p>\n

Background and match build-up<\/h2>\n

Mumbai Indians were set to bat first, but the early phase swung sharply against them. They slipped to 15\/2 within the opening three overs, losing wickets before they could get fully settled. The innings then received a lifeline from de Kock, who stepped in after the injury to former captain Rohit Sharma and made an immediate impact in his first appearance of the season.<\/p>\n

De Kock struck an unbeaten 112 off 60 balls, recording his third IPL hundred and doing so for a third different franchise. His innings was supported by Naman Dhir, who was promoted up the order and responded with a determined 50. Despite the momentum, Mumbai\u2019s scoring rate eased during the final overs, which meant they could not push beyond the 200-run mark.   3. Prabhsimran Singh then took charge, staying unbeaten on 80 from just 39 balls and punishing anything loose.<\/li>\n
  4. At the other end, Shreyas Iyer played a captain\u2019s innings, scoring 66 off 35 deliveries, and it was his third successive half-century of the campaign.<\/li>\n
  5. The duo combined to put together a 139-run partnership for the third wicket, a stand that effectively ended Mumbai\u2019s chances.<\/li>\n
