Reeza Hendricks and Jason Roy tried to steady the innings during the Powerplay with a handful of boundaries, but Shadab Khan soon tightened the screws. He struck twice in two overs, first dismissing Roy and then adding to Salman Agha\u2019s tournament woes. With the score reading 106 for 3 after six overs, Karachi would have felt that 170 might still have been achievable. However, Richard Gleeson and Faheem Ashraf restricted the scoring in the following overs, and Gleeson also removed Azam on his penultimate delivery, cutting off the pressure Karachi were trying to build. Hendricks reached his half-century, but the final two overs yielded only 18 runs, leaving the Kings short of a competitive total.<\/p>\n
In reply, Islamabad United made a bright start. Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas each struck a boundary early, setting the tone for the chase. Agha was brought into the attack during the opening phase, but Minhas punished him immediately, smashing three boundaries to race to 25. By the time the Powerplay ended, the contest had effectively swung decisively in Islamabad\u2019s favour, as boundaries continued to flow and the scoreboard kept moving.<\/p>\n
Minhas was the standout as United piled up 67 runs by the end of the sixth over, putting Kings in a position where a revival would require something close to a miracle. That scenario never really arrived. Minhas brought up his half-century off 29 balls, and although he was dismissed in the middle overs via stumping, the task was already nearly completed. The openers then combined for a 93-run partnership to keep the chase on track, and after that, Conway and Shadab took charge to finish the job.<\/p>\n
It was fitting that Conway, the New Zealand opener, delivered the final blow with a boundary that also brought up his own half-century, sealing an eight-wicket win for Islamabad United. The victory moves United up to second place on the points table.<\/p>\n
