    Hardik Pandya, speaking after the match, was asked about the discussion around Bumrah not usually being given the first over. The captain stressed that it isn\u2019t a captaincy issue, pointing out that Bumrah has bowled the opening over on multiple occasions before, but that his role is ultimately dictated by when MI need his special qualities most. Pandya also said that on the day, the team specifically wanted an immediate new-ball impact and felt no bowler was better suited for the job than Bumrah.<\/p>\n

    MI\u2019s chase of the match was powered by a standout batting display, posting 199\/5 in Ahmedabad. The cornerstone of the innings was Tilak Varma, who delivered an astonishing unbeaten 101 off just 45 balls, a knock that also brought him level with the franchise record for the quickest century in IPL history. Naman Dhir contributed with 45, offering crucial support as MI worked to steady the innings after early setbacks.<\/p>\n

    With the result, Mumbai Indians also ended a four-game losing run in IPL 2026. Pandya described the turnaround as significant, adding that travelling to win is always difficult and noting that Ahmedabad has not typically been friendly to MI in the past.<\/p>\n

    Bowling effort dismantles Gujarat<\/h2>\n

    MI\u2019s bowling unit delivered a collective performance to restrict Gujarat and protect the total. Ashwani Kumar was the standout, finishing with 4\/24. Mitchell Santner and Allah Ghazanfar each picked up two wickets as the GT batting lineup was repeatedly broken down, ensuring the chase never gained real momentum.<\/p>\n

    Pandya summed up the plan as bowling in the right areas with the right intent, praising both the execution by the younger members of the squad and the way the fielding complemented the bowling.<\/p>\n
