Even amid the unrest, Aminul Islam, the BCB president, maintained that he will not step down.<\/p>\n<h2>Investigation report and ministry pressure<\/h2>\n<p>Aminul\u2019s comments on Sunday followed the submission of an investigation report into alleged malpractice and misuse of power linked to last year\u2019s election. The report has been sent to the Bangladesh government.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the board is facing heightened pressure from the sports ministry. The ministry has questioned whether the election was valid, while also pointing to Bangladesh\u2019s failure to qualify for the T20 World Cup that is co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Additional concerns include allegations of political involvement and favouritism within the BCB.<\/p>\n<p>The four directors who resigned on April 4 were identified as Saniyan Taneem, Mehrab Alam, Faiazur Rahman and Manjurul Alam.<\/p>\n<h2>Aminul Islam insists he will stay<\/h2>\n<p>Speaking on Saturday, Aminul Islam said he intends to remain in his role, telling Jamuna TV that he would not step away and would be the last to leave if the situation demanded it. He also emphasized that he believes in the capability of his team, describing the board of directors as dedicated and honest and expressing a desire to serve Bangladesh cricket through them.<\/p>\n<p>He added that no individual is indispensable and noted that his career experience in the ICC was a key factor behind his decision to take up the president\u2019s position. Aminul also said that he left other commitments to support his country\u2019s cricket, and if the role is no longer his, he would consider another route\u2014while still wanting to back Bangladesh cricket.<\/p>\n<p>Further, he argued that the board could not operate with full independence for even a day, claiming an external influence continued to disturb the administration. According to Aminul, that interference has contributed to stagnation in Bangladesh cricket and has slowed the pace of progress.<\/p>\n<h2>Response to the investigation committee<\/h2>\n<p>Aminul said he was unable to appear before the investigation committee because of scheduling conflicts. Instead, he provided a written response.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that he did not face the committee directly because he was engaged in two separate meetings, which led to dates clashing with the committee\u2019s schedule. Aminul said he delivered his replies in writing.<\/p>\n<p>He also stated that he was not involved in anything related to the board elections, clarifying that his involvement was limited to one area that is now under investigation. Aminul said he would not go into further detail, but added that an ad-hoc committee runs the district sports organisation according to the constitution. He claimed that the constitution specifies that councillor names should come from within that ad-hoc committee.<\/p>\n<p>In his account, when only three names were provided from inside those ad-hoc committees, the board was compelled to write again, requesting that the names be sent from within the same ad-hoc committee. Aminul said this was the extent of his involvement.<\/p>\n<h2>Leadership timeline and allegations<\/h2>\n<p>Aminul Islam was appointed as BCB president in May 2025, taking over after replacing Faruque Ahmed as a government-endorsed director on the board. Later, he contested the elections in October and was elected president.<\/p>\n<p>His leadership has faced criticism from within the cricket fraternity as well.
