The result not only stretched CSK\u2019s dominance in this matchup, but also set multiple new benchmarks for both franchises across totals, margins and individual milestones.<\/p>\n<h2>Biggest margins and record-setting outcomes<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>103 runs<\/b> was the margin by which MI fell to CSK, marking MI\u2019s largest defeat by runs in the IPL.<\/li>\n<li>MI\u2019s previous record for a run-margin loss was <b>87 runs<\/b>, suffered against Rajasthan Royals in 2013.<\/li>\n<li>Before this Thursday, MI\u2019s biggest defeat by runs at Wankhede was <b>39 runs<\/b>, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>CSK\u2019s first 100-plus win and MI\u2019s lowest IPL total vs CSK<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>1<\/b> CSK also notched their first-ever IPL win with a margin of 100-plus runs.<\/li>\n<li>CSK\u2019s earlier best run-win margin in the league was <b>97 runs<\/b>, achieved against Kings XI Punjab in 2015 at Chepauk.<\/li>\n<li><b>104<\/b> was MI\u2019s total on Thursday, their lowest IPL score against CSK.<\/li>\n<li>MI\u2019s previous lowest against CSK was <b>136 for 8<\/b> in Dubai in 2021.<\/li>\n<li>The <b>104<\/b> by MI is also their lowest IPL total since the <b>87 all out<\/b> against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede in 2018.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Head-to-head trends, century landmarks and batting milestones<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>19<\/b> is now the number of times CSK have beaten MI in the IPL\u2014the most by any team against them, surpassing Punjab Kings\u2019 <b>18<\/b> wins over MI.<\/li>\n<li>Of CSK\u2019s <b>19<\/b> wins, <b>6<\/b> have come at the Wankhede, which is tied for the most by any opponent at that venue (with PBKS).<\/li>\n<li>Despite CSK\u2019s recent edge, MI still lead the overall head-to-head with <b>21<\/b> wins against CSK.<\/li>\n<li>However, MI have managed only <b>two<\/b> wins in their last <b>nine<\/b> meetings, and just <b>one<\/b> victory in <b>six<\/b> since the start of 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Sanju Samson\u2019s milestone vs CSK<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><b>101*<\/b> from Sanju Samson made him the first CSK player to score a hundred against MI in IPL cricket.<\/li>\n<li>The previous top individual effort for CSK against MI was <b>88*<\/b> by Ruturaj Gaikwad in 2021.<\/li>\n<li><b>2<\/b> Samson became only the second CSK batter to record multiple hundreds in a single IPL season, following Shane Watson\u2019s two centuries in 2018.<\/li>\n<li>Samson is also just the <b>4th<\/b> CSK batter to hit multiple centuries in the IPL overall, with Murali Vijay and Ruturaj Gaikwad being the other two.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>MI\u2019s recent pattern and the bowling\/100s records at Wankhede<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>1<\/b> MI became the first IPL team to lose by a similar large margin immediately after winning by a 90-plus run difference.<\/li>\n<li>MI had previously beaten Gujarat Titans by <b>99 runs<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>In 2011, Kings XI Punjab defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by <b>111 runs<\/b> at Dharamsala, but were then beaten by Deccan Chargers by <b>82 runs<\/b> in the next game at the same venue.<\/li>\n<li><b>14<\/b> is the number of IPL hundreds scored against MI\u2014joint-most versus any opponent, level with Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.<\/li>\n<li>Among those <b>14<\/b> hundreds against MI, <b>10<\/b> have been registered since the start of <b>2019<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li><b>9<\/b> wickets taken by spinners on Thursday were the most by spinners in any IPL match at the Wankhede.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All <b>nine<\/b> wickets in that spinner-heavy spell came from overseas spinners, the highest such tally in any IPL match.
