With IPL 2026 nearing its halfway mark, the league phase has reached the 33-match mark out of a scheduled 70. As the competition tightens, form is separating the standout performers from the wider pool of contenders, and the season\u2019s two marquee individual contests\u2014the Orange Cap for leading run-getter and the Purple Cap for top wicket-taker\u2014are beginning to take a clearer shape.<\/p>\n

Orange and Purple Cap races take centre stage<\/h2>\n

  1. After the Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings clash\u2014often dubbed the \u201cEl Clasico\u201d\u2014on Thursday, CSK\u2019s pace spearhead Anshul Kamboj moved back into the Purple Cap lead, finishing the day with 14 wickets from seven matches.<\/li>\n
  2. Kamboj\u2019s most recent spell included figures of 1\/10, which helped him reclaim the top position in the wicket race.<\/li>\n
  3. He now leads by a single wicket over Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants, who has 13 wickets in the same number of outings.<\/li>\n
  4. CSK dominated the head-to-head, winning by 103 runs after posting 207\/6. Their innings was anchored by Sanju Samson\u2019s unbeaten century.<\/li>\n
  5. Samson delivered 101* off 54 balls and was named Player of the Match, delivering a major boost to CSK\u2019s batting cause.<\/li>\n
  6. The knock represented the new CSK recruit\u2019s second century of IPL 2026, following an earlier unbeaten 115 against Delhi Capitals at home in Chennai.<\/li>\n
  7. With those two hundreds, Samson has surged into the Orange Cap conversation, sitting third in the standings with 293 runs from seven games.<\/li>\n
  8. At the top of the Orange Cap list right now are two Sunrisers Hyderabad batters: Abhishek Sharma (323 runs from seven matches) and Heinrich Klaasen (320 runs from seven games).<\/li>\n
  9. Shubman Gill of Gujarat Titans is fourth with 265 runs, while RCB skipper Virat Kohli is placed sixth on 247 runs.<\/li>\n
  10. On Friday in Bengaluru, RCB take on Gujarat Titans, giving Gill and Kohli an immediate chance to climb the Orange Cap rankings.<\/li>\n
  11. Meanwhile, the Purple Cap hunt also stays in focus for the RCB vs GT game, with several bowlers in contention.<\/li>\n
  12. Among the key names, Gujarat Titans pacer Prasidh Krishna sits fourth with 12 wickets, RCB\u2019s Bhuvneshwar Kumar is seventh with 10 wickets, and GT\u2019s Kagiso Rabada is eighth with 10 wickets \u2014 all three can improve their positions with wickets in the Bengaluru contest.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
