The match turned decisively in CSK\u2019s favour as Hosein struck with a four-wicket haul, providing the early and mid-innings disruptions that stopped MI from ever getting fully comfortable in their chase of 208. Sanju Samson\u2019s second century of the season kept CSK\u2019s run-scoring on track, extending his current T20 purple run, while MI\u2019s batting line-up\u2014known for its aggression\u2014was repeatedly checked until the chase ended 103 runs short. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Hosein said he was not surprised to see the pitch offer assistance. He pointed to the early look of the surface, explaining that fresh grass can make the ball grip and slow down, which benefits bowlers who rely on control and variation.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot too surprised. There are times when you get grass, fresh grass on the pitch, and the ball tends to hold and grip a bit,\u201d Hosein said.<\/p>\n
The spinner added that his job was to execute his approach as accurately as possible and to support the team\u2019s larger strategy. He also discussed the value of working closely with coaches to deepen his understanding of how different soil conditions behave\u2014whether it is red soil or black soil\u2014and what that means for ball movement. \u201cHappy to have contributed to the team\u2019s win and with my performance. I have been trying to pick the coaches\u2019 and players\u2019 brains on red soil, black soil, what it does, and which deliveries work. I was pretty happy with how I went about it today, because it can be a bit challenging if you do not adapt to the conditions quickly. Some deliveries come on a bit slower, some surfaces react differently. It is about just trying to do your homework as fast as possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hosein\u2019s four-wicket burst was also a notable milestone for CSK. It made him only the second CSK bowler after Noor Ahmad to register a four-wicket haul against MI, and it was the first time a CSK bowler achieved that feat at Wankhede Stadium.<\/p>\n
On the batting front, Samson\u2019s unbeaten innings proved decisive in keeping CSK on a steady path to a big total. His knock of 54 balls for 101 not out included ten boundaries and six maximums, and he reached the 200-run mark with his fifth IPL century. Even after CSK lost three quick wickets following a strong start and found themselves at 91\/3, Samson stayed composed and became the stabiliser, striking down youngster Krish Bhagat for 16 runs in the process. Samson, in his own comments, described the importance of that control. \u201cI think it was very important. We had a great powerplay, but we lost three wickets later and going in the middle overs, not sure whether to accelerate or slow down. They have some quality bowlers in the line-up. At one point, if we kept losing wickets, we could have fallen short and scored 160-70. Sanju was calculative, and he stayed till the end, taking on the new bowler in the end,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Samson anchored the innings with his sensational 54-ball 101*, striking 10 fours and six sixes.
