Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lit up the contest with a breathtaking 103 off 36 balls\u2014his third-fastest century in IPL history\u2014but his brilliance was not enough to stop Sunrisers Hyderabad from producing a dominant team batting display. On Saturday, SRH chased down Rajasthan Royals\u2019 229-run target with nine balls to spare to seal a five-wicket win. Ishan Kishan struck 74 from 31 deliveries, while Abhishek Sharma played a key stabilising role, striking 57 off 29 after making the most of a couple of chances. The chase also ranked as the fourth-highest successful run pursuit in the tournament, coming shortly after Punjab Kings managed a record 265-run chase against Delhi Capitals earlier in the day in New Delhi.<\/p>\n
Once SRH had set the momentum, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy ensured the finish. The duo added 53 runs for the fourth wicket to take the visitors across the line, with Klaasen contributing 29 and Reddy making 36.<\/p>\n
Rajasthan had posted a competitive total, yet they struggled to convert it into control. They used eight different bowling options, but fielding lapses and missed opportunities repeatedly undermined their efforts.<\/p>\n
Beyond two early dropped chances that allowed Abhishek to stay at the crease, Royals also failed to put pressure when Brijesh Sharma spilled Reddy off Jofra Archer (2\/34) on 14. The missed chances became costly as the SRH partnership kept accelerating at the right moments.<\/p>\n
The first over turned out to be eventful as well. Dhruv Jurel offered a chance off Archer, allowing Travis Head\u2014on 6\u2014to survive early. Head then struck one that went for six, but Archer responded by getting the English batter caught behind.<\/p>\n
Archer continued to create moments, including a 145.4 kmph delivery that surprised Kishan and produced an edge flying past the helmet for four. However, Kishan recovered and began to find boundaries, carving out three fours off Archer as the innings progressed.<\/p>\n
Abhishek\u2019s knock also owed something to Royals\u2019 fielding errors. First, when Abhishek struck Nandre Burger straight to the fielder, Shimron Hetmyer moved away from third man, only to fail to make the clean take. Second, a low full toss from Tushar Deshpande was sliced straight to Ravindra Jadeja at backward point, where Jadeja spilled a sitter.<\/p>\n
Even with those setbacks, SRH\u2019s batting looked comfortable. None of the bowling changes managed to disrupt the chase as Abhishek and Kishan built their momentum. They put together 132 runs for the second wicket, arriving at that tally from just 55 balls, leaving SRH on track for a straightforward victory.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Sooryavanshi\u2019s aggressive batting powered Rajasthan Royals to 228 for six. The 15-year-old punished SRH after an early escape, moving from 32 to his second IPL hundred in the league and his first of the season, following three rapid fifties in the run-up.<\/p>\n
Sooryavanshi once again showcased an array of attacking strokes\u2014executed with both brute strength and timing. He cleared the ropes 12 times, while striking five fours, on his way to 103 in 37 balls.<\/p>\n
He reached the milestone with a six off Sakib Hussain (1\/62) on his 36th delivery, marking the third-fastest century in IPL history. Only his own 35-ball hundred last year and Chris Gayle\u2019s 30-ball ton for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in April 2013 came quicker.<\/p>\n
Rajasthan got off to a sharp start as Sooryavanshi hit Praful Hinge (1\/49) for two sixes to the on side and two more down the wicket during the final four balls of the opening over. From there, he rarely missed the chance to attack, scoring at both ends while assembling two strong early stands at the top of the order.<\/p>\n
His early burst helped Rajasthan add 40 runs from just 14 balls for the first wicket. He then teamed up with Jurel for a 112-run partnership for the second wicket, with Jurel contributing 51 from 35 balls.<\/p>\n
Sooryavanshi\u2019s charge ended immediately after completing his ton. He went for a scoop off Hussain but missed, and was trapped lbw.<\/p>\n
SRH managed to remove Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) early, but they still lost the wicket they wanted when Eshan Malinga (2\/38) created the opening in the fifth over. Sooryavanshi was dismissed when he attempted to hit a length ball toward the on side but misjudged the timing. Aniket Reddy sprinted to deep midwicket and got close, yet the ball popped from his hands for a costly drop.<\/p>\n
Despite that scare, Sooryavanshi completed his fifty off 15 balls, finishing it with a six in the sixth over off Hussain. Rajasthan also received a late boost as Donovan Ferreira struck 33 from 16 deliveries, featuring three sixes and as many fours.<\/p>\n
