Speaking after the chase, Ferreira said he stayed calm throughout and treated it like a familiar routine. \u201cJust kept my mind nice and clear,\u201d he told the broadcaster. \u201cExactly the same as when I was a kid playing with a toy truck.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ferreira\u2019s night carried extra significance because it came after a recent move in the squad. He was brought into the RR set-up ahead of IPL 2026, arriving from Delhi Capitals in a deal worth INR 1 crore. Asked again about his approach, Ferreira returned to the same theme of not getting carried away. \u201cI think it\u2019s important to really just take it ball by ball and not look too far ahead,\u201d he said. \u201cI just kept on reminding myself, it\u2019s only 12s [per over] or 10s [per over] required, so just one good over and then the game becomes a lot simpler.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also credited the pressure-sharing role played by the man at the other end. \u201cLuckily for me, Shubham came in and took a lot of pressure off me and played a crucial knock over there,\u201d Ferreira added. \u201cAnd I knew if I just stay there, not lose my wicket, then I can catch up in one over. So luckily for me, that happened in the last over of Lockie [Ferguson]\u2019s bowling.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ferreira further revealed that RR had discussed the importance of more than just relying on their explosive top order. Heading into the game, the team had been conscious that they could not depend solely on their prolific and young opening pair of Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi to consistently set up victories. In that context, the middle-order delivery\u2014led by Ferreira and supported by Dubey\u2014became a key part of the plan.<\/p>\n
Beyond the main partnership, Riyan Parag also made a meaningful contribution with a quick 29 off 16 balls. It was a day when RR made a slight adjustment to their composition by leaving both Shimron Hetmyer and Ravi Bishnoi on the bench, giving other batters the chance to shape the chase.<\/p>\n
Ferreira said he was pleased with the overall balance. \u201cI\u2019m really pleased that I\u2019m hitting the ball well. Shubham came in and did well too. With the tournament still long, he emphasised the need for multiple contributors to keep RR in contention. \u201cYou need to win games to stay in the top four. It\u2019s a long tournament so we just keep reminding ourselves that different guys should put their hands up. We can\u2019t just rely on our openers who have been really good for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
