The wicketkeeper-batter, who is 44, was initially expected to miss the opening stretch of the tournament, but the timeline for his comeback has continued to drift further into the season. Ahead of CSK\u2019s next assignments, Dhoni has been training alongside the squad, but on match days he has made the decision to remain away from the venue.<\/p>\n

Why Dhoni is skipping the stadium trips<\/h2>\n

  1. Before CSK\u2019s game against the Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, CSK batting coach Michael Hussey explained Dhoni\u2019s choice to not travel with the team.<\/li>\n
  2. Hussey said Dhoni\u2019s intention is to avoid becoming a distraction for the rest of the group, particularly if he arrives at the ground but does not take the field.<\/li>\n
  3. The former Australia batter added that Dhoni understands how the cameras and crowd attention can shift the focus of a match, and that he has consciously opted to stay away for the team\u2019s benefit.<\/li>\n
