The Sunrisers Hyderabad batter believes the best route to impact now is building partnerships and choosing risks only when they genuinely help the team\u2019s position. SRH\u2019s recent rise to the summit of the standings has been closely tied to that more measured approach.<\/p>\n<h3>Quick facts<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Klaasen has adjusted his IPL 2026 mindset toward playing the situation and forming partnerships rather than forcing extra aggression.<\/li>\n<li>SRH\u2019s run at the top follows a 33-run victory over Punjab Kings.<\/li>\n<li>In that win, Klaasen scored 69 off 43 balls.<\/li>\n<li>He is currently leading IPL 2026\u2019s run charts with 494 runs in 11 matches at an average of 54.89 and a strike rate of 157.32.<\/li>\n<li>SRH next play Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad at Narendra Modi Stadium on May 12.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Speaking about his evolving plan, Klaasen explained that he has stopped viewing every innings as a chance to do \u201ceverything\u201d while maintaining an unrealistic scoring rate. Instead, he aims to bat as effectively as possible within the partnership, letting the game dictate tempo and shot selection. He framed it as a conscious decision to reduce unnecessary pressure on himself and his batting partners.<\/p>\n<p>Klaasen also credited the way Nitish is striking the ball, saying it takes off a significant amount of stress from him at the crease. With the other end productive, he feels he does not need to force additional risks. For him, the core job is to set up a platform that leaves SRH with enough runs to defend during the chase.<\/p>\n<p>He underlined that personal runs only matter if the team converts them into victories. Klaasen stressed that SRH are currently \u201cplaying wonderful cricket\u201d and believe they are peaking at the correct moment of the season. His message was also a reminder to treat wins with respect\u2014securing a strong playoff position is the goal, but SRH are not taking success for granted.<\/p>\n<p>The former South Africa batter then dismissed any concern about returning from international retirement. He said he has already come to terms with that decision and is instead looking ahead to a new phase of his career. Klaasen added that he has been enjoying cricket without the demands of international schedules.<\/p>\n<p>He spoke about the personal benefits as well, pointing to more time for family and additional opportunities to be back in South Africa. Klaasen said he would have liked to be in South Africa and finish the journey at the World Cup in 2027, but acknowledged that life does not always follow the path you hope for.<\/p>\n<p>Under Pat Cummins\u2019 leadership, SRH will now travel to Ahmedabad for their next assignment against Gujarat Titans.
