All six franchises in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) have confirmed their mandatory pre-draft retentions from the Breakout Player pool ahead of the 2026 CPL Draft. Under the league\u2019s rules, each side was allowed to keep just one player from this category before the draft begins, with the rest of their squad composition to be decided through the player selection process.<\/p>\n

Pre-draft Breakout Player retentions confirmed<\/h2>\n

  1. Antigua & Barbuda Falcons have retained Joshua James.<\/li>\n
  2. Barbados Royals have retained Ramon Simmonds.<\/li>\n
  3. Guyana Amazon Warriors have retained Quentin Sampson.<\/li>\n
  4. St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have retained Navin Bidaisee.<\/li>\n
  5. Saint Lucia Kings have retained Ackeem Auguste.<\/li>\n
  6. Trinbago Knight Riders have retained Nathan Edward.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    CPL regulations require every franchise to name three Breakout Players in its final squad. Additionally, at least one player from the Breakout category must be included in the playing XI for every match across the season. The retentions and subsequent draft picks are intended to give emerging Caribbean talent regular exposure at the region\u2019s flagship T20 tournament, while also reinforcing the pathway that can lead these players into higher levels of professional cricket.<\/p>\n

    Because teams could only make one pre-draft retention and that retention had to come exclusively from the Breakout Player group, attention now turns fully to the 2026 CPL Draft. The event will allow franchises to complete their rosters ahead of the new campaign, scheduled to run from August 7 to September 20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
