Speaking to reporters, Green dismissed the idea that KKR\u2019s mindset ever fully cracked during the season. He pointed to a strong atmosphere within the dressing room, saying even before they began stringing wins together, the mood remained positive and it did not feel like the team was destined to lose every game. He also underlined that the club\u2019s culture across the tournament helped players stay ready for their moments.<\/p>\n
Green further explained that the side had to take time to settle on the most effective combination and the right batting roles for different players. In his view, the process involved identifying where individuals could contribute most effectively to the team\u2019s overall plan. He said it took a few matches to get there, but that the squad is now in a \u201creally good place\u201d with how they are structured.<\/p>\n
Bowlers restrict Delhi, Allen\u2019s 100 completes the chase<\/h2>\n
On the field, KKR\u2019s spinners played a major part in keeping Delhi Capitals under control, restricting them to a total of 142 runs for the loss of eight wickets. In the chase, Finn Allen turned the game decisively in KKR\u2019s favour, completing the required runs with an unbeaten century\u2014100 not out off 47 deliveries.<\/p>\n
Green described the performance as another example of the bowlers doing their job throughout the match. He also spoke with admiration about Allen\u2019s impact, noting that the Kiwi\u2019s hitting put immediate pressure on the opposition. Allen\u2019s innings featured 10 sixes, underlining the dominance of his clean striking and the speed at which the chase unfolded.<\/p>\n
Green on support, pressure and earlier scrutiny<\/h2>\n
Green revealed that earlier in the season he had faced extra attention after Cricket Australia did not grant him clearance to bowl. Despite that scrutiny, he said the support staff never added pressure and made him feel comfortable from day one. He stressed that the environment around him did not feel different from what teammates experienced.<\/p>\n
He also addressed the wider reality for international players, explaining that with only four players from overseas in the squad at any given time, there is always an expectation to perform consistently. Green said he personally did not feel that pressure, and credited the support staff for helping him stay focused and confident.<\/p>\n
Why Green hasn\u2019t bowled his full quota yet<\/h2>\n
Although Green has returned to bowling, he has not yet completed his full allocation of four overs in a match. He insisted that the situation was not linked to fitness issues. Instead, he explained that KKR\u2019s team makeup allows for role-sharing in the bowling department\u2014particularly because Anukul Roy has been bowling one or two overs, which reduces the overs Green needs to deliver.<\/p>\n
Green said he is fully ready to bowl his full four-over spell and that the squad\u2019s composition provides flexibility. He pointed out that having a left-arm all-rounder available can be especially valuable through key phases, including the middle overs, with the option for Green to bowl in the powerplay, the death, or even through the middle depending on match requirements. He added that KKR effectively have six players they can turn to, and with both himself and Anukul Roy as all-rounders, the group can manage the full four overs more smoothly across the innings.<\/p>\n
Green\u2019s role in the match and Allen\u2019s momentum<\/h2>\n
In Friday\u2019s game, Green took the wicket of KL Rahul, then contributed with the bat by scoring 33 not out. From his vantage point, he watched Allen\u2019s assault closely and said he was not surprised by what unfolded. Green described Allen as exceptional and said he has consistently delivered strong starts whenever he has had the chance to bat.<\/p>\n
Green suggested that KKR have exactly the type of player they want for those early bursts\u2014someone capable of applying pressure immediately. He also said that when Allen gets to scores in the range of 30 or 40, it becomes extremely difficult to dismiss him because he keeps going without trying to slow his momentum or rein in the strike.<\/p>\n
