Chennai Super Kings batter Urvil Patel has matched the IPL\u2019s quickest half-century, racing to fifty off just 13 deliveries against Lucknow Super Giants at the Chepauk Stadium. In doing so, he joined Yashasvi Jaiswal on the same record mark\u2014Jaiswal had previously reached his fifty in 13 balls during IPL 2023, en route to an unbeaten 98 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.<\/p>\n

Record context across the T20 format<\/h2>\n

Patel\u2019s 13-ball fifty also placed him among the briskest half-centres in T20 cricket overall, registering as a joint-eighth fastest T20 fifty worldwide. The outright fastest T20 fifty is credited to Nepal\u2019s Dipendra Singh Airee, who smashed a half-century off nine balls against Mongolia during the 2023 Asian Games.<\/p>\n

Other notable ultra-quick fifties include Ashutosh Sharma\u2019s 11-ball fifty for Railways against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Additionally, Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, Hazratullah Zazai, Sahil Chauhan and Abhishek Sharma are all listed among players who have produced 12-ball fifties in T20 cricket.<\/p>\n

  1. Patel started the chase with CSK on 45 for 1 in the 3.4-over mark, with the target set at 204.<\/li>\n
