NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians, already out of the picture for the playoffs, still managed to make the IPL 2026 race feel very much alive. In Dharamsala on Thursday, they pulled off a remarkable six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings, and it came with a notable milestone: Jasprit Bumrah captained the side in IPL history for the first time. The win was MI\u2019s fourth of the season, bringing their points tally to eight, yet the team remained stuck in ninth place. The loss kept KKR in the fight, but only just. Kolkata dropped to eighth in the table, meaning their qualification hopes are still alive, though they now depend on results going their way. Importantly, their four-match winning run came to an end against RCB.<\/p>\n
After RCB and GT, the next two playoff spots are currently claimed by Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. SRH occupy third place with 14 points, while PBKS remain fourth with 13.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, the remaining positions did not shift after Match 58 of the 70-game league schedule. Chennai Super Kings are in fifth with 12 points, sitting ahead of Rajasthan Royals due to superior net run rate, and both franchises have three matches remaining. Below them, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders are still mathematically in contention. DC have 10 points from 12 encounters, while KKR have nine points from 11.<\/p>\n
