Rawalpindi fast bowler Mohammad Amir and Islamabad United all-rounder Faheem Ashraf were involved in a heated exchange on the field during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 match at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Thursday. The altercation erupted on the third delivery of the 17th over in Islamabad’s first innings when Amir released a slower bouncer toward Ashraf. Ashraf went for an upper-cut, but the ball came off his edge and was taken by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. After completing the catch, Amir celebrated and then directed verbal comments toward Faheem, using hand signals as he urged him to return to the dressing room. Faheem responded by moving toward Amir and lifting his bat in his direction. The situation was only settled once Asif Afridi and Saad Masood intervened, stepping in to separate both players and restore calm.
With the match underway, Rawalpindi opted to bowl first and restricted Islamabad United to 137 in their 20 overs. Islamabad’s innings began sluggishly, as Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas struggled to accelerate during the opening phase. Naseem Shah struck in the powerplay, dismissing Mohammad Faiq for five runs off six balls, taking the team to 29-2 after 5.5 overs. Saad Masood then added to the pressure in the seventh over by removing Shadab Khan for just one run, leaving Islamabad wobbling at 30-3. Amir later provided another breakthrough, getting Faheem Ashraf out for 11 from 12 deliveries, and Islamabad had slipped to 99-7 by 16.3 overs.
Chris Green was the key stabiliser as he struck 29 off 16 balls, including two fours and two maximums, helping Islamabad nudge the total beyond the 100-mark. His effort, however, ended abruptly as he was run out in the final over, leaving Islamabad to finish on 137 in 20 overs.
