Islamabad United faced a major scare during a training session at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre on Tuesday after pace bowler Mir Hamza Sajjad was struck on the head by a ball and briefly lost consciousness. The incident quickly triggered concern among players and support staff, though reports later indicated that Sajjad was conscious and stable.
What happened during the net session
The incident occurred in a net practice when Mark Chapman, a member of the squad, played a shot that went beyond his control. The ball came off the action and hit Sajjad on the back of the head, after which he fell to the ground.
Sajjad was then taken to a nearby hospital for assessment. Medical checks were carried out and, as a precautionary step, a CT scan was planned to rule out any injury.
Update on Mir Hamza Sajjad’s condition
Reports from the scene stated that Mir Hamza Sajjad is now awake and stable following the episode. The training session was halted immediately after the incident, and the group spent time monitoring his progress.
