Officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) met in Dhaka on Saturday to discuss cricket relations with India, a report by ANI said. The discussion followed an earlier message sent to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about upcoming bilateral tours and wider cooperation between the two boards.
The session was chaired by BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul. Earlier, BCB director Nazmul Abedin Fahim explained that the board’s outreach to the BCCI formed part of routine correspondence.

IPL and ICC fallout in the background
The latest BCB meeting comes months after IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from its 2026 squad following direction from the BCCI. The decision triggered criticism and concern from Bangladesh authorities and sections of the public.
Around the same period, the BCB asked to move Bangladesh’s fixtures in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 from India to Sri Lanka, citing security considerations. The ICC turned down the request, stating there was no credible threat to Bangladesh players.
Bangladesh were later withdrawn from the tournament and their spot was taken by Scotland. The situation was eventually settled after the BCB managed to avoid a fine from the ICC and secured the right to host an ICC event in 2028.
In addition, Bangladesh stopped the telecast of IPL matches within the country, further intensifying tensions around cricketing ties.
