Mumbai Indians have confirmed that wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock and pace-bowling all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa will miss the rest of the IPL season after sustaining injuries. With the franchise already out of contention for the playoffs, MI still have two fixtures remaining—hosting Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday and then taking on Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.
Injuries rule the duo out
- De Kock has been ruled out due to a tendon injury in his left wrist, an issue he sustained prior to Mumbai Indians’ home match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
- Bawa is also set to miss the remainder of the tournament after suffering a ligament tear in his right thumb during Mumbai Indians’ previous game against Punjab Kings.
How the season played out for each player
- De Kock featured in three matches during the IPL campaign, starting with an unbeaten 112 against Punjab Kings on April 16.
- He last appeared against Chennai Super Kings on April 23, before missing the clash versus Sunrisers Hyderabad after being struck on the wrist during practice.
- Bawa, meanwhile, made three appearances for Mumbai Indians across the season.
In a statement, Mumbai Indians said both Quinton de Kock and Raj Bawa will continue their rehabilitation at their respective homes, receiving support and guidance from the team’s medical staff with the aim of returning to action as soon as possible.
The franchise also added that it wishes the players a quick recovery and will name replacements in line with IPL regulations.
