IPL 2026 has proved disappointing for Mumbai Indians, who currently occupy ninth place in the points table. They have won only four of their 12 matches and carry a net run rate of -0.504. Despite being unable to reach the playoffs, MI still have two matches left to play: against Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on May 20, and against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on May 24.
While Mumbai’s qualification hopes are over, their remaining fixtures could still matter in the wider chase for the top four, with both KKR and RR still positioned in the running.
