Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa have both been ruled out of the IPL 2026 because of injuries, leaving Mumbai Indians to finish the league phase without the duo for their remaining two fixtures. The franchise confirmed that De Kock, the South Africa wicketkeeper-batter, picked up a tendon problem in his left wrist ahead of Mumbai’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Raj Angad Bawa, a Chandigarh all-rounder, suffered a ligament tear in his right thumb during Mumbai’s last outing against Punjab Kings. Both players are currently back at home and are recuperating as they work through the recovery process.
Mumbai Indians said they will name replacements in line with IPL regulations. De Kock’s most recent appearance for MI came on April 23, when he produced a big run haul across three innings, including a breathtaking 112 not out against Punjab Kings. Bawa, meanwhile, has been part of the squad in a limited but meaningful way this season, featuring in three matches for the team in IPL 2026—matching the number of appearances he made last year as well. At the moment, Mumbai sit ninth in the points table, having won four of their 12 matches, with a net run-rate of -0.504.
With their playoff hopes already ended, the focus now shifts to how the remaining games are handled. Mumbai have two matches left: a trip to Kolkata to face KKR on Wednesday, May 20, followed by a home game against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, May 24, at Mumbai.
