NEW DELHI: Shubman Gill once again found himself at the centre of social media chatter after Gujarat Titans delivered a commanding 82-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026. Moments after the team’s success in Ahmedabad, the GT captain posted a playful Instagram caption that read: “Dil abhi bhi sache, aur ghar bhi kache.”
The line sparked rapid interest among fans, largely because it appeared to echo an earlier, light-hearted moment involving Gill and SRH’s Ishan Kishan that had previously played out during a Star Sports interaction. In that exchange, Gill had teased Hyderabad by referencing their record against Gujarat, asking, “SRH last kab jeeti thi?” Abhishek Sharma then replied, “SRH bahut pehle jeeti thi.” Gill followed with a punchline that many viewers later linked to his new post: “SRH tab last jeeti thi jab ghar kache, aur dil sache hote the.”
That Instagram caption gained even more traction right after Gujarat underlined their superiority over Hyderabad with yet another emphatic result at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The match itself reflected the same sense of control, with GT producing an all-round performance to overpower SRH.
Batting first, Gujarat negotiated a challenging surface to reach 168/5. Contributions came through half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar. Sudharsan made 61 off 44 balls, while Sundar played a steadier innings of 50 from 33 deliveries. Nishant Sindhu also chipped in with a useful 22 to help set up a big total.
In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s star-studded batting order faltered under pressure and collapsed dramatically. SRH were dismissed for just 86 in 14.5 overs. Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder led the wicket haul with three dismissals each, while Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj also made important contributions with the ball.
