Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed RS Ambrish as an injury cover for Shivam Mavi, bringing the right-arm seam-bowling all-rounder into the squad for the rest of IPL 2026. Mavi, a right-arm medium pacer, has been ruled out of the ongoing tournament because of a groin injury, and SRH moved quickly to secure Ambrish as his replacement.
In a statement released on Friday, the league said Ambrish will join SRH for INR 30 lakh. The Chennai-based prospect is a right-arm medium pacer and also bats left-handed, adding variety to the team’s bowling and lower-order options.
Ambrish was part of India’s Under-19 setup that won the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup earlier this year in Zimbabwe and Namibia. He finished among the tournament’s most effective wicket-takers for India, taking 11 wickets to land as the joint-leading wicket-holder for the side, and played a meaningful part in steering the team to the title. His ability to offer value with both bat and ball has helped him stand out as one of the more exciting young prospects in Indian cricket.
SRH’s recruitment does not stop with Ambrish. Earlier, the franchise had also brought in Gerald Coetzee and Dilshan Madushanka as replacement players to bolster its pace resources. Coetzee joined the squad in April after being named as a cover for David Payne, who was sidelined with an ankle injury.
Payne, meanwhile, had originally been drafted into the squad as a replacement for Australia all-rounder Jack Edwards, who missed out due to a foot injury. Continuing the chain of changes, SRH added Sri Lankan left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka to the roster after Brydon Carse was ruled out following a hand injury sustained during net sessions.
With their current momentum, the 2016 champions are riding a five-match winning run and sit third on the points table. Led by Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad are scheduled to host three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders in an afternoon encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.
